“Our coaching focuses on inspiring hope and equipping individuals with tools for their journey.”

 What we offer

  • Our heart at Redefined Coaching is to see people free and living their best life. We know the struggle but we also know freedom and that it is so worth it.

Redefined was started to help people with the 'how' in recovery offering tailored recovery programs for the individual.

Our approach is based on hope with tools around the 'how' in recovery. We are here to help you get through by coaching you through the hard moments in recovery. We offer text support in between sessions to help you initiate using tools as well as to provide reassurance and encouragement.

  • It takes practice of doing something we fear to normalise it and make it safe
(This can be done online or in person)

Meal Support: For everyone this looks different but will be in line with your treatment goals. We will coach you as you eat and sometimes even prepare the meal. Meal support also includes motivation work, thought challenging, anxiety and guilt work, distraction planning, and lots of reassurance and encouragement.

Meal Exposure: This is trying new foods and practicing going out to cafes and restaurants while being supported.

Grocery Shopping: This is to support you in getting groceries while targeting Eating Disorder behaviours while using tools to manage challenging emotions. This can be done online or in person.

Clothes Shopping: We get this can be a massive trigger so it is helpful to have support and have someone reassure you and help you challenge thoughts and deal with the anxiety around it.

Reintegrating Exercise: The motive behind exercise matters and we want to make sure Anorexia is not in the driver's seat. So we can work out together and help you challenge the Eating Disorder drive while you are doing it so that you can have a healthy relationship with exercise.

Building a life outside of your Eating Disorder: We practically help you do this whether it is practicing eating out so that you can go out with friends, practicing going and doing things in life or even helping you join social groups.

Body Checking Exposure: Sometimes we all have places where we have to body check out in public like certain glass doors and this is being there and helping coach you through not doing it to break that Eating Disorder rule.

Practicing tools: When we have big emotions it's hard to use the tools our therapists have given us so we find practicing them together outside of big emotions is helpful so you are more likely to use them when you are anxious or distressed.

  • All of our coaching methods and support draw from our own lived experiences, emphasizing a coaching perspective - not a therapy point of view

We do this by working through the following areas.

    Motivational work
    Hope Based Work
    Externalisation
    Thought Challenging
Guilt Work (it’s time to break those Eating Disorder rules).
Values Work (our values get mixed in with the Eating Disorder ones).
Identifying your strengths and using them in recovery.
Identifying fears and helping you overcome them.
Building a life outside of your Eating Disorder
    Anxiety tools

Reassurance and encouragement: Sometimes in recovery you just need to talk to someone who gets it.
Body Image work (body image has a lot more to do with your thinking and emotions than your body).

We know Recovery is scary but it is WORTH it.

*Please note that we are not therapists but coaches and we work alongside dieticians, therapists and all ranges of Eating Disorder treatments.

Sometimes people who are doing FBT just need someone to talk to who has lived experience. When arranged with the therapist we can also help parent’s out with meal support who are engaged with FBT as we know it is a massive task.

Our Policies

  • Redefined Coaching is a team of trained passionate coaches dedicated to doing the recovery journey with you. The team is trained in different coaching skills. Coaching is about the ‘how’ in recovery and getting you 'through' those challenging moments in recovery.

Our mission is to inspire you with hope and motivation and then equip you with the tools that you need for recovery while keeping you accountable and helping you discover a life outside of your eating disorder.

  • We are not medical professionals. Our expectation is that while you are engaged with our services, you receive regular monitoring from a GP and follow their medical advice. We will not be in correspondence with your GP, and we expect you to manage this aspect of your care.

We are not therapists, although some of us have training in this area. We do not operate in this capacity in this setting. Unless discussed otherwise, we expect you to be engaged with a therapist, and coaching will happen alongside therapy. We will be in correspondence with your therapist and be guided by them in what would be helpful.

We are not a crisis team. If you are concerned, experiencing a crisis, or facing any risk, please contact your local crisis team or the police.

We do not manage medication or other mental illnesses. We expect you to receive psychiatric care and management for these concerns.

  • We expect clear and honest communication from the clients we work with.

We expect you to be engaged and cooperate with what has been discussed for coaching, and participate in regular sessions that have been agreed upon.

Recovery is hard, and there will be many ups and downs, but we are committed to your recovery, and we expect you to be committed to your personal recovery as well.

Coaching is about recovery, and we know that it is challenging, but we do expect progress. This will be reviewed regularly to ensure that we are helping you and not hindering your recovery.

If you wish to cancel a session, please note that we have a cancellation policy of 50% of the full fee if less than 24 hours notice is given and a full fee for a no-show.

If you miss multiple sessions in a row without a good reason, we will conduct a review, and it may be necessary to discontinue coaching, as we can't be responsible for your recovery if you are not engaging in coaching.

If you wish to disengage with Recovery Coaching, we expect clear communication and require it to be either discussed in a session or written in an email outlining your reasons why and if you plan to engage in other help.

We expect invoices to be paid on time unless discussed otherwise. If more than two invoices have not been paid in a row, we will not conduct another session until those invoices have been paid.

  • Our hourly rate for standard coaching sessions is $140 NZD, however, this may be affected by prior fixed pricing relationships with specific medical practices.

Effective 01 April 2023, all services will be subject to GST and the hourly rate of $140 NZD is exclusive of this tax.

Not all sessions are 1 hour in duration, and the hourly rate of $140 NZD will be used to determine the cost of a session based on its length. For example, a 30-minute session would cost $70 NZD and a 45-minute session would cost $105 NZD.

Travel cost will be calculated at 0.83 cents per kilometre and rounded up to the nearest dollar amount. It will then be an agreed average for the sessions that involve regular travel so as to reduce administration time and keep an easy track of billing.

This is based upon the IRD Kilometre rates for 2021-2022

Please note that prices for exposure outings and meal support may vary, and we may be able to offer discounts for those who face financial barriers to accessing our services. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to us.
