Regulate to Recover: Understanding Your Nervous System in Eating Disorder Recovery

If you’re in the process of healing from an eating disorder, you may have noticed that recovery isn’t just about changing behaviours—it’s about healing your mind, body, and nervous system. Your nervous system plays a huge role in how you experience anxiety, fear, and urges to control your body, often leading to eating disorder behaviours.

In Regulate to Recover, we’ll explore how your nervous system influences your recovery and give you practical tools to help you heal from the inside out. This group will guide you through the connection between anxiety and eating disorder behaviours, and offer ways to begin regulating your nervous system so that you can feel safer, calmer, and more in control during your recovery journey.

In this group, you’ll learn:

• How anxiety and nervous system dysregulation trigger the fight, flight, freeze, or fawn responses that drive eating disorder behaviours.

• The connection between nervous system healing and recovery from eating disorders.

• Simple, effective techniques to calm your nervous system and reduce the anxiety that often fuels eating disorder thoughts and behaviours.

• How to create a sense of safety in your body again, and respond to triggers in ways that support long-term recovery.

Recovery is not just about food—it’s about feeling safe in your body and learning to regulate your emotions. In Regulate to Recover, you’ll discover how to rebuild a healthy relationship with your nervous system, so that recovery becomes more possible and sustainable.

This group is specifically for anyone who is struggling with anxiety, fear, or feeling overwhelmed by the recovery process. Healing your nervous system is key to building lasting change in your recovery.
